Wii Fit Yoga with the Balance Board

Wii Fit Yoga with the Balance Board

My favorite! I’ve done yoga and I’ve been into it for a long time. The word yoga derived from Sanskrit word “Yuj”, meaning to “unite”. It’s an ancient art that developes your breathing, general health concentration. With good practice and persistence you can achieve a moderate level in just a dozen years. Scared already? Well, the good news is – not anymore, thanks to Nintendo and the unique wii fit balance board.

The wii fit balance board will measure your center of balance and will tell you how well you are doing. There are many different poses starting from the easiest to the hardest. Nintendo named the poses a little bit freely but luckily you will see their real names. By the way poses in yoga are called “asans”, a good thing to know. I guess you can call them wii asans.

For the yoga sessions, you pick a wii fit trainer (male or female) to work with. The trainer shows you the asans and then you do them together. They are held usually up to 40 seconds. While you are doing the pose, graphics on the screen indicate your balance. Keep your TV at eye level so that you can see without turning your neck.

What kind of Yoga it would be without breathing exercises. Oh yes, the wii fit will guide you through the proper breathing routines. The exercises have a light blue circle that expands when you’re supposed to exhale and contracts when you’re supposed to inhale.

You have access to only four yoga poses when you first start the game: Deep Breathing, Half-Moon, Warrior, and Tree. Other poses are unlocked as you accumulate more minutes in your Fit Bank. Many of the final yoga poses are the last activities that you unlock in the entire game.

Well it's mostly about balance and losing weight. It tells you how much weight you've lost and you play games and it shows you yoga moves and you have a virtual trainer. Personally I think it's really fun. And you don't need a yoga mat, only the wii balance board. And you don't have to get a charger, but it saves money on batteries.

Yeah I got my Wii Fit yesterday as well, and it's a very good game. But I do agree that the aerobics games aren't laid out very well. The first couple of times I did the Step Basics game I got really confused, and in Step Plus, there's a huge bunch of weird symbols, you know sideways and kicks and all! The skiing game is meant to be played normal on the balance board, the trick is to keep your weight distributed evenly and not to put too much weight on one side of the board, as it is very sensitive and that's why you may be having problems with that game. The header game all depends on your feet, unfortunately, so you just sort of sway from side to side. I have a PS2 and the game Eye Toy has a very good soccer heading game as it is with a camera, not a motion sensing board. Also, when you eat, you gain a tiny little bit of weight, like 0.1kg, or depending on what clothes you're wearing, that may be another reason you have apparently 'gained weight'. Really, the main test only needs to be done once a day, and in real life you should only weigh yourself once every week or so because your weight changes so rapidly during times of the day and through eating and drinking. Hope this helped!

You many want to buy it, but you don't need the wii brand yoga mat. Any yoga mat will do. Good Luck! I own one by the way. Love it!

The batteries might be dead. Check the HOME Menu while playing. The Wii Balance Board is P4. If the battery is low, change it. Don't mix old and new batteries, bc that really messes it up.

    Good Luck ! :)

Wii Fit uses a unique platform peripheral called the Wii Balance Board that can measure a user's weight and their center of gravity, and calculate their body mass index when told the user's height. The game has about 40 different activities, including yoga poses, push ups, and other exercises. Furthermore, Wii Fit allows its players to compare their fitness by using Wii Fit's own channel on the Wii Menu.

Wii Fit tracks a user's "Wii Fitness Age" through a daily body test basing the result on the user's current age, weight, and athletic ability.

Training on Wii Fit is divided into four categories: aerobic exercise, muscle workouts, yoga poses, and balance games. The activities provide a core workout, emphasising controlled movements rather than overexertion. Activities include:
