For that, first you must learn keep your priorities straight, which will help you know what you actually need and then arrange your priorities in a way that you deem fit. Here are a few tips that can aid you in selecting a fitness center:

1. The Location of the fitness center:

The location of the fitness center is the first and most important thing that is to be considered and ensure that it is as close as possible to your house, else, the distance will give you another excuse for skiving workout and finally you will end up not doing exercises and will let your investments go waste.

2. The nature of employees of the fitness center:

The instructor who instructs you must have had a lot of experience and should be a professional, who is certified and can efficiently work you towards your goals and must also have a clear understanding of your needs and requirements. You can even ask about your instructor’s age, if it matters to you. The staff should be professional, friendly and also helpful. You can inquire about the services that is being provided and then choose what you feel is the most important for you and also the most suitable for you. Some centers have their dietician and other services like physical therapists too and can be availed by members.

3. The programs offered:

Also enquire about the programs offered, availability of group classes and choose those that you like the most. You can even try out a few classes and if you don’t like them, give them up at a later date. Group classes are to be looked forward as they allow you to meet others that have similar tastes and you may find potential buddies.

4. The quality and suitability of the programs:

You must also check if enough number equipment is present that everyone can use it. Else, you will waste a lot of time, waiting in queues for your turn. Also, check out the timings and see if they are suitable for you else see if you can modify your schedule. If both are not possible, there is no point in signing up as your old schedule will be given more priority than the new one by you and you will stop working out.

5. The maintenance of facilities:

The training facilities and equipment must be in good working order. If there are many signs showing “out of order”, you must think about it. Modern equipments are better and are very comfortable too and must be considered too. Check for cleanliness like the floors being clean, enough room and ventilation and lighting facilities.

6. Members of the fitness club:

Also, the fitness center is the place where you can interact socially. Before you enroll yourself, try having conversations with the members and if they are friendly, go ahead ells, think about it.

7. The schedules and convenience:

Enquire about the timings of classes and also ensure that they do not interfere with your regular schedule.

8. The cost:

It is also very important to gain knowledge about the cost that would be incurred and what it includes. There are hidden charges that are charged by many fitness clubs and you must check that. If there are discounts or promos or discounts, look for them. Also, the age and reputation of the club should be known and the rate of increase of their rates.

9. The uniqueness of the club:

Look for as many clubs that actually fit your needs and requirements. After that, choose the one that suits you best and offers you as many amenities as possible.

10. The reputation of the club:
Inquire about the clubs and collect the feedback of people and make them share their experiences with you.

Selecting a fitness center is the same as shopping for a good shirt. Don’t be pressured and don’t contact them immediately. Gather information and analyze them and then choose the best that is there out there. Once chosen, enjoy as much as possible from it.

Help answer the question about fitness club

What should I wear to an interview for a fitness club summer camp position?
I have an interview for a position as a summer camp counselor at a large fitness club (lifetime fitness) on saturday. The position is described as being very active, and in the initial phone call they told me their ideal candidate is someone who is very fun and active, willing to get down and play with the children.

I am twenty years old, so i want something young and that shows I am fun. I'm stuck about how to convey that I am the sort of person they are looking for while still looking put together and professional.

Thanks for the help!

    Hey,

I work for LA fitness, therefore can give you a quick recap of them all.
LA fitness varies and usually we get specials coming in. There should be a special on Monday, since it's our closing so we get good prices at that time.
not contract. mnth to mnth. usually around 70+ down with first and last month and monthly billing of 19.99, 29.99 and others.

Bally's usually works based on contract. 3-5 year contracts. Also, if anything I wouldnt go with them since the filed prop 11, which means most of the clubs will shut down sooner than later. we get a lot of ppl from bally come to us cause they know, they'll be gone soon enough.

24 hour has pretty much similar rates to LA fitness.
also they get specials every now and then, but their prices are just as similar.

since I work for LAF I have a free membership, however I would probably get a membership on 24 sinc ethey are open 24 hours!
I like working out late at night, but if that not an issue with you then LAF works as well.
Other then that, I'd go with the club with nearest location to me.

You can get a family package that includes your parents, you only have to be like 13? but they have to be there to supervise.
    Or 16-17 with parents permission
    18+ and your fine.

do you have a ymca? they have great equipment, free workout classes, swimming pools, training programs. and a sliding scale fee. you may get a discount depending on your income. i pay like $18 a month and it covers access to all that stuff!

Sorry to say you have better chance of winning the lottery then getting out of a contract with Ballys. They will hunt you down like a dog to collect their money. Good luck and let me know how it goes for you.

Depends more on your club mentality and location, like, in the city you would have an indoor area and need to focus on working week fitness but maybe not so much of weekend attendance, so try a name that combines the "Ladder Climber" mentality with the weekend lack of business and probably no reason to even open.

So, if your location is in a populus business area and your clientelle are cashed up, age below 45, predominately single, then go for something like "Broken Limits" or maybe "No Limits"

If your location produces a clientelle of a more cautious nature then maybe something like "Crash or Burn", of course the reference to Crash is -do nothing, and the reference to Burn is – Exercise.

Hope you get many more ideas. (Rod from OZ)

Price is usually the most important thing to decide on. They can be very expensive and even the most basic ones will probably have all the equiptment you need so you're never getting much more for the extra cost.
Proximity and being able to get there easily is also important. You're much more likely to keep it up if it doesn't take you a massive effort before you've even started your workout!
Atmosphere is another thing factor. Friendly staff and clients can make a real difference to your motivation to keep going. Some fitness clubs can be a bit snooty or competative so I try to avoid those ones!
Finally, look at the machines that they're offering. Do they look like things you'd want to make use of? Most will have the basic weight and cardio machines but if there's anything specific you had in mind such as a swimming pool then look out for that.
    Good luck with it. X
