Golf fitness training and golf exercises can assist in increasing the distance of your tee shots. An integral component of tee shots especially those hit with your driver is clubhead speed. Clubhead speed is essentially the rate of speed at which the club impacts the golf ball. The higher rate of speed, the farther the golf ball will travel. So it only makes sense when hitting driver, clubhead speed becomes an integral component of the game.

<br />

Increasing clubhead speed basically hinges upon two factors; factor number one is your swing mechanics and secondly is your body. The more efficient you become with your swing mechanics, the greater amount of energy you will be able to translate into the club head. And the more powerful the muscles of your body become the larger amount of power you will be able to create. It is the integration of these two components that will allow you to increase the clubhead speed of your tee shots.

Golf fitness training assists with the second category of these components, your body. Keep in mind it is the muscles of your body executing the mechanics of the golf swing. And when it comes to clubhead speed, if the muscles of your body are more powerful, they will be able output higher levels of clubhead speed within the confines of the golf swing.

Power, which is defined as the ability of your muscles to output the greatest amount of force in a short amount of time can be improved with a specific type of golf fitness training. This type of exercises will improve the ability of your muscles to develop force in a short amount of time through the movement patterns of the golf swing.

In order to achieve this outcome we must utilize power training exercises placing your body in the anatomical positions of the swing, and ones which are rotational in terms of movement. This will develop the power component of your muscles specifically to the requirements of the golf swing.

Power training exercises for the golf swing will again focus on the core area of your body. Recall from last weeks article, the core is a reference to an anatomical area of the body where the majority of movement occurs in relation to the golf swing.

Remember golf fitness training and golf exercises can increase the distance of your tee shots. Keep in mind as it relates to the body three major components are prevalent in tee shots: flexibility, strength, and power. All three must be developed within the body for optimal success when hitting your driver.

Golf fitness exercises can be very beneficial in getting you ready for the upcoming golf season. Golf exercises with swing drills can prepare you for a successful year on the links right from the start.

The PGA Golf Tour is in full swing and for many parts of the country and world the golf season is upon us. Many of you are anxious to dust off the golf clubs and get out to the golf course for your first round of golf. A question that may be on your mind is how do I get ready? How do I knock off 6 months of rust on my golf swing, feel comfortable with my driver on the first tee, and post a good golf score at the end of the round?

All questions that are asked often in the world of professional golf and this article will provide you with the answers. Answers to these questions and many more fall under the category of how do I prepare myself for the golf season?

Interesting enough if the guidelines from this article are followed the golf score you post for your first round of the year may be lower than you ever expected, the distance of your drives may well be farther than you imagined, and the number of accurate golf shots you hit may be even more surprising!

The answer to all the questions on how to get ready for the upcoming golf season centers on preparation. Preparation is the key to a successful first round of golf and every round you play in the upcoming golf season.

We all probably understand the definition of preparation but lets take a quick look in order for us to all be on the same page. Preparation can be defined as the work or planning involved in making something or somebody ready or putting something together in advance (Encarta Dictionary, MSN.com).

A definition that sheds light on getting ready for the upcoming golf season. Using the above definition we can see the process of preparing for the upcoming golf season does not begin 10 minutes before your first tee time, but rather in advance of when you get ready to hit driver off the first tee. Bottom line the process of getting ready for the upcoming golf season begins weeks or even months before your’ first round of golf of the year.

To have a successful first round of golf and a good season of golf you must begin the process of preparation well in advance of your first time on the golf course. If you look at professional golfers they begin the process of preparing for the upcoming golf season months in advanced. I would suggest doing the same. Develop a plan that will get your golf swing ready once the snow thaws, the birds are chirping, and the greens are ready for putting.

What does such a plan contain? This type of “golf preparation plan” would contain drills, exercises, and programs to improve and prepare every aspect of your golf game. If we break down the game of golf into categories the “golf program” becomes much easier to understand. Obviously, we have the different shots made on the course. A brief breakdown would indicate the need to implement swing drills to work on the full swing, short game, and putting. We could obviously get a little more detailed than a breakdown of the golf game into three different categories, but lets’ keep it simple.

Now that we have this breakdown of the game of golf into full swing, short game, and putting the next step is to implement a series of drills to work on each of these aspects. Simply put I would suggest devising a series of drills to work on each part of the golf game/swing. This can easily be accomplished by purchasing a few books or videos from one of the top-teaching professionals in the world of golf.

Each one of these qualified golf instructors have numerous materials available to help you with your golf swing. And if you are one of those individuals that lives in a cold climate and is unable to get to a driving range or practice facility, no need to worry. Most all of the instructional videos/books available have drills that can be performed in the comfort of your own home.

At this point we have a couple of bases covered in the “preparation plan” for the upcoming golf season. We understand preparation is key to a successful year on the golf course, the “preparation plan” begins well in advance of the first tee time of the year, and a portion of the plan consists of swing drills. This brings us to final part of your “preparation plan” for the upcoming golf season.

This part of the plan centers on the implementation of golf fitness exercises to go along with your swing drills. We must understand the concept of your body and the golf swing. The golf swing is executed in its’ entirety by your body. In order for your body to execute the golf swing correctly. It requires you to have certain levels of flexibility, balance, strength, endurance, and power within it. If you are lacking in any one of these physical areas compensations will occur in your golf swing.

It comes down to this: In order to be prepared for the upcoming golf season and to improve your golf swing. The implementation of golf fitness exercises geared towards developing your body around the golf swing is necessary. This type of program will prepare the body for the golf swing and the upcoming golf season.

To summarize, the process of preparing yourself for the upcoming golf season begins with a “preparation plan”. This plan begins weeks to months in advance of your first time out on the golf course. Additionally, this “preparation plan” for the upcoming golf season contains a series of golf training drills to prepare your golf swing. The golf training drills break down the golf game into three sections; full swing, short game, and putting. A series of swing drills are implemented to work on each one of these parts of your golf game. In addition golf fitness exercises are implemented into the golf-training program to develop your body around your golf swing. Put all these pieces together and your first time out on the golf course this year should be an enjoyable one.

You spend all that time and money with your Pilates teacher weekly, right? Whether privately, in a semi-private or in a group mat class. You love how you feel when you leave the studio or class, right? You believe in the work and see what it has done to your body, then why not take the principles of the workout with you onto the gym floor the next time you go there?

Who said Pilates could only be done on the floor on a mat? What stops you from using your powerhouse everytime you sit at a piece of equipment? what prevents you from “lifting in and up” everytime you use the Lat Pulldown or Cables for Tricep Presses? Why can’t you breathe through the “back ribs” when you inhale and melt over that stability ball or when you are doing Lateral Shoulder Raises anyway?

Nothing stops you. Nothing but the mindset that one activity belongs in one place and the other in another.

As a Pilates Instructor and a Personal Fitness Trainer/Instructor, I am concious of queing and coaching all my clients – whether they know Pilates or not – men and women alike – to use and engage their core structure, their powerhouse, the abdominals before making any movement with a piece of equipment, dumbbell weight, resistance band, etc.

Yes the specific exercises of the Pilates method are distinctive. Yes, the names of the Pilates exercises, whether found on the mat or any of the studio apparatus are distinct and memorable and yes, they move the body through a set of fluid, flowing motions while resisting against a stable position.

In the case of Pilates, we refer to this stable position as the “powerhouse,” defined as the imaginary box drawn between your right and left shoulder and right and left hip points.

It is this stable position, from deep inside the abdominal core, that all the exercises inside the gym must and should also emante. Generally, I find that newcomers to the gym, as well as many old “hardheads” approach the equipment just to move thru pushing or pulling the weights without giving any conscious attention to abdominal engagement, stabililty, balance or even use of their breath to facilitate the movement of the body or the weights.

By employing the classic principles of Pilates,

control - of the movement of the exercise, the muscle involved within the exercise and transitions to the next exercise.

concentration – bringing full attention, focus and commitment to the exercise; eliminating the extraneous details and chatter, thus maximizing the value achieved with each rep and movement.

centering – bringing a centered focus to the core powerhouse as well as one’s body in space.

precision - focused attention to the precise placement, alignment and movement of the body.

breath – use of the breath to faciliate and/or challenge the movement of the body.

I have noticed, as have many of my clients, (whether they know Pilates or not) a Pilates-inspired workout has slowed them down enough to bring a consciousness to their workout, their body and the results they want to achieve in the gym.

Applying Pilates grace and focus in the gym amounts to true integrated, functional core strength training. But that is what Joseph was really developing anyway on very different apparatus when he created the Pilates method.

Summary

I have found, as have many of my clients, that an pilates-applied approach within the gym may completely eliminate the need for spending the last few minutes of the workout hour on the floor doing abdominal exercises. For enagagement of the powerhouse with control, focus and stability throughout the entire gym workout will yield an hour long abdominal workout that is far more effective than a brief “hit it and quit it” generally used in the last 15 minutes for most of us on the floor.

Health and fitness matters a lot for the healthy living being. With the growing age of the universe and the developing countries, people are more into business and works and have totally ignored their personal physical and mental life. Nowadays the routine is nothing more than a 12-hour job and sleepless nights just for the sake of earning money. But it is important to configure that money values only when the body is healthy and the living being is normal. Anyhow many countries stress on the physical heath and exercises, making the fitness valuable and prior to all people of all ages and either sex. Health and fitness is a thing to be maintained by all age groups and adults need to maintain it more. Health and fitness values for patients as well, the heart and the bones patients tend to give more attention to their health and fitness.

Golf fitness exercises can be beneficial for the woman golfer in terms of improving the foundation of the swing, rotation in the backswing, speed development in the downswing, and a consistent finish position. Learn how golf fitness exercises can benefit the woman golfer. Lowering scores and making the game more enjoyable.

It is well known in professional golf how integral golf fitness exercises are for success at the highest levels. Men on the PGA Tour and women on the LPGA Tour understand the benefits of golf fitness exercises in achieving success. Outside the circles of professional players many questions exist about golf fitness exercises. Questions such as; what are the best exercises to improve golf fitness levels, are flexibility exercises and stretches better than other forms of golf fitness exercises, and what are the benefits of golf fitness exercises for the woman golfer?

These and many questions surround the topic of golf fitness. This article is to provide some answers for you on the topic of golf fitness exercises for woman. It has been well documented in magazines and television how LPGA women such as Annika Sorenstam utilize fitness programs to benefit their play on the course. Is there a difference between the LPGA player and the amateur woman in relation to golf fitness training? The answer is no. Yes, the women on the LPGA Tour are the best women golfers in the world, but the physiology of the LPGA player and amateur are the same. The skeletal, muscular, and neural systems are the same. The professional player has the same number of muscles in their bodies as the amateur. The woman’s professional player has the same skeletal structure as the female amateur, and nervous system as well. Granted the LPGA player has more refined and efficient swing mechanics, but the body is the same.

As a result of the body being the same, the principles and structure of a golf fitness program for any woman is similar. Before discussing the specifics of a program for women it is necessary to understand a few important principles. The first principle to understand about a fitness program is sports specific. Sports specific is a term describing the type of training utilized in a golf fitness program. Sport specific training simply states the program utilized by the woman athlete is geared towards improving them in their chosen sport.

A second principle closely related to sports specific training is cross specificity training. Cross specificity training is the utilization of exercises to develop the woman golfer in the positions, movements, and actions incorporated in the golf swing. The goal of cross specificity training is a transfer of training effect to the field of competition. Simply stated, a transfer of training effect is the ability of exercises utilized to train the female golfer having a direct benefit on their performance on the course.

For example, golf flexibility exercises will attempt to improve the flexibility within the player. As the player improves their flexibility parameters in relation to the swing. She may be able to create a bigger shoulder turn, which may increase the distance of her drives. This benefit is an example of a transfer of training effect onto the golf course. In summary, the three principles that assist in the development of a golf fitness program for women are; sports specific, cross specificity training, and transfer of training effect. Many additional principles exist that are used as guidelines in the development of a fitness program, but these are three essential ones.

Outside of the guidelines governing the development of a golf fitness program for woman. Specific physical components within the body are needed within the body to execute the golf swing correctly. Remember, it is the body performing the biomechanics of the swing. In order for the swing to be executed correctly and efficiently certain levels of flexibility, balance, strength, endurance, and power are required. These are the actual physical components within the golfer a fitness program looks to develop and enhance in relation to the golf swing.

The swing requires the body to move through a long range of motion for an efficient movement to occur. Much of this is contingent upon the ability of the core to coil and uncoil during the swing. In order for these two biomechanical actions to occur efficiently, the development of proper flexibility in the core is necessary.

We utilize flexibility exercises that are cross-specific to the movements in the swing to develop flexibility. The majority of these flexibility exercises are rotational and dynamic.

The swing is a dynamic movement, indicating that the body is in constant motion. It is crucial to develop a range of motion in a dynamic rather than a static (not moving) method. The goal of these exercises is to create a range of motion in the core for the golf swing. Flexibility is the first physical component requiring development within the woman golfer.

One needs to maintain, dynamically, a stable body throughout the entire swing. We have all hit balls at the range and know what happens when we do not stay balanced during the swing. Improving the balance and stabilization capabilities of the core translates into a better golf swing. Better Balance equals a Better Swing. Even subtle movements are consistency killers; thus we need to develop and maintain balance for a consistent swing.

Balance is connected to the efficiency of the nervous system and strength of the muscular system working together. The development of greater balance in the core and swing is the result of two types of specific exercise. The first challenges the nervous system creating greater efficiency. The second are exercises that create increased strength in the core. The combination of these two types of exercises permit for the body to maintain posture, promote efficient weight transfer, and create power in the swing. The result is a more consistent, accurate, and powerful swing. This is the second component included with a golf fitness program.

Remember that the golf swing is a repetitive movement. The mechanics of the swing repeat with each stroke. This process can be repeated hundreds of times in a round of golf. Ever go to the range and hit two buckets of balls? At some point the body starts to tire, and shots scatter.

Proper endurance training enables us to repeat a sound swing. We produce this through a series of exercises developing endurance in the entire body. This nets us a consistent swing through eighteen holes. Increasing endurance leads to lower scores. This is the third physical component of the golf fitness program for women.

Club head speed is a function of power. The more power generated by the body, the greater speed at which a club head impacts the ball. More power to the ball equals longer drives. Developing higher levels of power within the muscular system of the body is achieved through the implementation of power exercises. These types of exercise assist in creating higher power outputs of the muscles involved in the golf swing. Power training is the final component found in a golf fitness program for women.

In summary a golf fitness program for the LPGA or amateur woman golfer is relatively the same. Golf exercises for the woman golfer are sports specific. The exercises are cross-specific to the movements, positions, and requirements of the swing. The exercises within a woman’s golf fitness program induce a transfer of training effect onto the course. The swing requires certain levels of flexibility, balance, strength, endurance, and power to execute correctly. A golf fitness program for women will look to enhance these physical components of the body. The end result is an improved swing equating to lower scores and more enjoyment on the course.

Before deciding to purchase a home fitness equipment, the user has to get the advice of the physician whether he or she is really fit to do exercises at home, whether it is a strength building exercise or a cardio exercise.

For strength building exercises, there are much small and inexpensive home fitness equipment like dumb bells, free weights, and many more. There are strength training machines that allow maintaining a proper form and would also be helpful in minimizing the risk of injury. Such equipment are also suitable for those who have a limited space in the home.

When it comes to the selection of equipment for cardio workouts at home, there are a number of choices including treadmills that are comfortable and familiar, elliptical trainers that give a low impact work out taking care of the joints and so on. An exercise bike would be a compact home fitness equipment and does not take much of the space.

Elliptical trainers are the ultimate fitness equipment which combine the advantages of both the treadmill and stair stepper. Since different equipment are designed to cater to the needs of different parts of the body, it is better to assess what type of equipment is suitable to the user before finalizing. So, it is sane to purchase equipment with which the user is already familiar and knows how to use it.

A budget has to be set apart for buying the home fitness equipment because the quality of the equipment and thereby, the safety of the user matter more than anything else. This can be judged when a user feels comfortable while using it. Earlier, space was the constraint which prevented people from buying home fitness equipment but now manufacturers have overcome this hurdle by introducing equipment that are foldable and compact, so that they fit into the garage and the budget of the buyer.

Home fitness equipment have many advantages. In addition to saving the time to reach the gym, home fitness equipment offer privacy and comfort of exercising at home. This also gives complete control of oneself and the environment because the user can listen to his or her own choice of music or watch a favorite television program while exercising.

Home fitness equipment also gives time to work out in between activates at home which would not be possible while in the gym. Most of the home fitness equipment come with the instructions on how to use them with written directions or DVDs and hence the user can rest assured that the money invested does not go in vain.

When regular exercises along with proper healthy diet are combined with the utility of home fitness equipment with a good level of motivation, the results are sure to be evident.

What does it mean to live a health fitness lifestyle? Generally it means you eat healthily, you engage in a moderate exercise program, you don’t smoke, you limit alcohol consumption, and you maintain a normal weight. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? Not really? For most people, trying to balance an active lifestyle with a healthful lifestyle may seem impossible due to time constraints, job and family commitments or just simply lack of motivation. Maintaining your health does not mean living miserably.

Eating right does not have to be a chore. Simple changes you can make while on your next visit to the grocery store can get you on the right path to eating better. Small substitutions like eating more fruit and veggies and eating less refined and processed foods over time saves calories and adds nutrients to your diet.

Don’t force yourself to shelve your entire diet and start with something restrictive. Feeling deprived leads to failure. Go slow and enjoy each new item you add to your diet.

Exercise does not have to be a dirty word. If you lead a sedentary lifestyle, start slow and increase your activity level as you reach small goals you set for yourself.

It may be just using the stairs at work instead of using the elevator. Over time, you might decide to walk for part of your lunch break. Eventually you may want to join a fitness center to increase your progress. Go at a pace you are comfortable with and enjoy.

If you smoke, consider a smoking cessation program. There are medications in pill, patch and gum form that can assist you in stopping. Talking to a counselor or adopting a quit-smoking buddy has been shown to help smokers quit smoking at higher rate than trying to go it alone. Side effects of smoking include rapid heartbeat, decreased circulation, and shortness of breath and more serious problems like cancer, emphysema and heart disease can eventually develop.

Drinking alcohol in moderation has actually been shown to benefit the cardiovascular system. However, consuming more than a glass or two a day can cause liver damage. The liver acts as a giant filter system of the body.

When the filter is clogged, the body does not function properly. Jaundice, gallstones, blood clotting difficulties, organ failure and death can result when the liver is compromised.

Knowing your body mass index (BMI) can help you calculate what a healthy weight is for your body type. You can calculate your BMI by dividing your weight by the square of your height or go online and use a BMI calculating tool. Regulating your diet and adding health fitness weekly can help stabilize your weight.

So you’ve let yourself go. You don’t feel fit. You lack energy. Serious health issues may run in your family. What to do? It is never too late to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Integrate more healthful food choices into your life.

Add health fitness to your routine. Quit smoking and have a glass of red wine with dinner. Eating better and increasing your activity level helps you maintain a normal weight. Each little change gets you closer to the lifestyle goals you set for yourself.

I have a lot of interest in the psychology of learning, as well as health and fitness. (I love working out.) I would really like to find a career that combines these interests, but my advisors at college, as well as other professors, family and friends don't have any ideas. I have taken some career assessment tests on computers, but they require you to pick only one major of interest. Anyone have any ideas?

Weight training makes a person healthy, fit and strong. It is not just for people who want to build muscle, but for everyone who likes to stay fit and keep the excess weight off.

If you want to get in shape or stay in shape you can walk, run or cycle every morning, play sports with friends, but if you want to have muscles and look lean, then lifting some weights either at the gym or at home is your best bet.

People go to the gym for many reasons. eg:

To lose a few pounds if they are overweight.

To gain a few pounds (of muscle) if they are underweight.

To get fit and Healthy.

To get strong.

The most effective exercise plan for most should have some cardiovascular work and mostly weight training exercises. This helps burn calories and increase the muscle to fat ratio better than cardiovascular work alone.

Some Benefits of Weight training:

1. It is the best way to maintain and improve ones health from a variety of diseases and premature death.

2. It makes a person feel better and increases ones self confidence, prevents depression, anxiety

and gloom.

3. A weight training lifestyle helps a person live longer than an inactive person.

4. It instils discipline into a person, making other things in life easy.

5. It makes one stronger physically and mentally.

To start: one should consult a physician to get the go ahead and then get into it gradually.

Getting stronger, fitter, healthier week by week building up more endurance will be of great benefit to you.

Aim for 3 or 4 days a week working out, this is sufficient no matter what your goals are.

Maintain a reasonable diet.

You could consult with a professional to get an excellent eating plan to match your goals and gym

activities. They will evaluate you based on your needs, and recommend a diet plan.

A good diet should have nutrients from all the food groups.

This is made up by 3 basic groups.

The first is carbohydrates. The energy source. The food that a person consumes should have vitamins, minerals and some fiber. A lot of this comes from oats, rice, potatoes, cereals and breads, and also from vegetables and fruits since these have phytochemicals, enzymes and micronutrients that are essential for a healthy diet.

The Second is Protein. The building blocks of muscle and essential organs. This comes from fish, chicken, red meat and dairy. Protein is broken down in the body to form amino acids for repair and

growth of new cells.

The third is fat. The body’s enemy, according to most. There are 4 types of fat: Saturated (the bad) from animals, the more animal fat you consume the higher your blood cholesterol will rise, increasing the risk of a malfuntion in the body.Should be taken in small quantities.Sources are: Beef, dairy, coconut oil.

Polyunsaturated (the good) Comes from plants, reduces blood cholesterol. Sources are: nuts, fish, safflower oil, seeds, corn oil and sunflower oil.

Monounsaturated (the best) also comes from plants, raises the good cholesterol.Sources are: Avocado,

olive oil, olives, nuts, canola oil and peanut butter.

Trans fats (the ugly) This is relatively new, the effects are unknown, it is believed that they behave like saturated fat (the bad) causing blood cholesterol levels to rise.

The consumption of fats (the good fats) is important for our health. They are used in the production of hormones and other activities. We do need some fat, but do limit the bad.

A great way to help your efforts in the gym is to give up some detrimental habits such as smoking and drinking alcohol. Smoking damages the lungs and dramatically increases the risk of lung cancer along with other diseases. Excessive drinking has also been shown to causes major diseases.

These two habits are definitely not worth having around.

The best thing one can do for themselves is to quit any destructive habits they have and get into that gym, start pumping some iron and look forward to greater Health and Fitness.

For decades, health experts have been alerting individuals about the benefits of regular exercise and promoting home exercise equipment for many people to use to begin their exercise routines. Many people would like to purchase a home fitness training system but are confused about how often this equipment should be used and how long each workout session should last. The ultimate decision on how often a workout done on a home fitness training system should be completed will depend mainly on the person’s health but there are some other guidelines that should be followed as well to make sure that you are getting the most out of your exercise equipment without causing damage to your body.

There are three main types of home fitness training systems that can be purchased by a person for use on a regular basis; equipment for strength training, equipment for stretching and flexibility, and equipment that can be used for both. Many people prefer the equipment that can be used for both types of workouts but some people prefer equipment that is good for one or the other, typically due to health or physical restrictions. Strength training systems generally provide a more intensive workout and combine long movements with holding patterns that are designed to strengthen the muscles over time. A home fitness exercise system that is used to increase flexibility will generally incorporate more fluid movements and continuous motions so groups of muscles are working together and stretching in different directions at once.

The Frequency Of The Exercise

Many experts recommend using a home fitness training system at least three times a week to get the best benefits for the body. This allows the person to exercise strongly one day and spend the next 24 hours letting their body repair and rest from the stretching done the day before. After the person has become comfortable with using the home fitness training system, the intensity and length of the workout should be increased and the number of days each week that the equipment is used can be increased to four or more sessions per week.

Sometimes people use a home fitness training systems to help them prepare for other activities, such as sports or dancing. In these cases, the home fitness training system should be used before each class or training session in order to increase flexibility and reduce the risk of straining a muscle when doing the more intense actions needed for the sport. The frequency of use for the home fitness training system will depend on the number of times the person plays the sport each week.

Choosing A Length Of Time

The amount of time that should be dedicated to using a home fitness training system will depend on the type of workout being performed. If the home fitness training system is being used for exercise only, then a workout of between 30 minutes and 1 hour would be a good length of time. If the workout is being used to prepare the person for a more intense exercise, then a time limit of ten to fifteen minutes is enough to get the person ready to participate in their sport.
